How to Layer an Initial Necklace
Use chain length, pendant scale and finish color to build a comfortable two- or three-necklace stack.
The short answer
Place the initial necklace at the shortest or middle position, then leave roughly two inches between pendant chains. A simple chain below it gives the letter room to remain readable.
Three easy combinations
- Minimal: initial pendant plus one slightly longer fine chain.
- Balanced: short plain chain, initial in the middle, longer subtle pendant below.
- Statement: initial on a fine chain paired with one heavier chain at a different length.
Reduce tangling
Use chains with clearly different lengths and weights, avoid stacking several pendants at the same point, and fasten each clasp separately. Remove the stack before sleep, exercise, showering or swimming.
